Notes and Comments for the week beginning June 7th 2020
“Live” stream Mass from Church on Facebook page Sunday at 9:30am. Live Music streamed at 11:00am.
Trinity Sunday is the first Sunday after Pentecost to honour the Holy Trinity – the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. While the word “trinity” does not appear in the Holy Scriptures explicitly, it is alluded to in many Bible passages. The concept of the Holy Trinity can never be completely understood. That is why we call it a great mystery. But it is clearly taught in Scripture. Understanding the concept of the Trinity comes through the work of the Holy Spirit; therefore, it is appropriate that this mystery is celebrated on the first Sunday after Pentecost, when we celebrated the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the first disciples. Trinity begins with a doctrine, but it ends with intimacy. Perhaps the best way to celebrate Trinity Sunday is to know that we are invited into the intimacy hidden in the mystery of the Trinity.
175 years of Holy Trinity Church – Had we not been in lockdown this weekend, we would have been celebrating our Patronal Festival with the Archdeacon of Canterbury as our guest preacher. Our Church celebrates this year 175 years since its consecration in 1845. The foundation was laid on August 29th 1844 and the building was completed nine months later. Over this weekend we give thanks for the life, work, and ministry of Holy Trinity Church, Ramsgate. Hopefully if we are back in Church by August, we can celebrate the laying of the foundation stone on Sunday 30th August.
Zoom Virtual PCC meeting on Tuesday 9th June at 6:00pm. If all goes according to plan, we hope that our Annual Parish Meeting might take place in Church on Sunday September 13th after Mass.
