Sunday March 6th The First Sunday of Lent. Hymns for today’s Mass: 67, 64, 384, 439.
Readings at Mass today: 1st Reading: Deut 26: 1-11. Psalm: Ps 91: 1-2, 9-16. 2nd Reading: Rom 10: 8b -13. Gospel: St Luke 4: 1-13
The readings for the First Sunday of Lent for Year C demonstrate that we must give our whole lives to God. In the first reading Moses explains that we must give our best offering to the Lord. In the second reading Paul tells us we must follow Jesus not just with our minds, but also with our hearts. In the familiar Gospel set for today, Jesus is tempted by the devil in the desert but resists, putting his trust in his Father instead.
Have you made any plans for how you will observe Lent in a more spiritual way in 2022?
Why not use this prayer each day of this first week of Lent. Lord God, you who breathed the spirit of life within me. Draw out of me the light and life you created. Help me to find my way back to you. Help me to use my life to reflect your glory and to serve others as your son Jesus did.
